Beta caryophyllene is a natural bicyclic sesquiterpene. It is an ingredient of many essential oils especially clove oil. The stems and flowers of the Syzygium aromaticum (cloves). Generally, it is found as a mixture with isocaryophyllene and a ring opened isomer. The aroma of beta-caryophyllene is soft black peppery spice, soft woody, clove zing. It is commonly found in many natural materials including hops and cannabis. Beta caryophyllene is useful for building floral, exotic notes, and spice. It is a pale yellow oily liquid with an odor midway between the odor of cloves and turpentine.
