Beta caryophyllene is a natural bicyclic sesquiterpene. It is an ingredient of many essential oils especially clove oil. The stems and flowers of the syzygium aromaticum (cloves). Generally, it is found as a mixture with iso caryophyllene and a ring opened isomer. The aroma of beta-caryophyllene is soft black peppery spice, soft woody, clove zing. It is commonly found in many natural materials including hops and cannabis. Beta caryophyllene is a pale yellow oily liquid with an odor midway between the odor of cloves and turpentine.
